COLLECTION SYSTEM CHEMICAL FEED
PILOT TESTING
ARE YOU USING THE RIGHT CHEMICAL?
ARE YOU SPENDING TOO MUCH MONEY?
WEA is working with a municipal client to provide valuable real-world information about the effectiveness of controlling odors in long forecemains. WEA helped the municipality to conduct large-scale pilot tests to assess the effectiveness of a range of chemical products. A ‘Request for Proposals’ was issued, and proposals were accepted from six different chemical vendors for the testing of their product in 30-day pilot tests.
Prior to initiating these tests, WEA conducted an assessment of existing feed sites, and selected two long force mains for pilot testing. This careful planning included the establishment of performance goals at every site, data collection and analysis, and logistical considerations for chemical implementation. The pilot test allowed for optimization of chemical dosages, ultimately leading to the identification of cost-effective solutions tailored to each site. Vendors were given 30 days to make chemical adjustments to demonstrate the effectiveness of their product. Data was summarized in reports and presented
This initiative not only balances cost-effectiveness but also ensures the successful attainment of site-specific objectives, showcasing WEA’s commitment to excellence and environmental stewardship in the community!
